MM good question but ask yourself this Google is the world leader of search facilities etc do they need to use incentives to get people to use it or will people use it in the rush to either not get left behind (bandwagon mentality) or because they fear losing rankings and therefore traffic and potential customers!!!!!!

Yes it can help you to find your article easier and do comparision basied on price, brand , category or any other attribute. Personally it has an up side and a downside in my opinion, it can be great for customer experience andfor people using it my main concern is with all the people who already have a built ecommerce site and what it means for them in terms of organic searches and if this means that they will rank lower, theres food for thought!

Hi

This is a great question Rich_son basically Froogle was a product search engine, but not too many people heard of it until Google added Froogle to its search pages, it accepts shopping site product feeds into its search index for no fee. Google Base's (if you remember it), basic purpose was to submit content you own anything from your recipe to a list of kung fu movies. Basically it seems that Google Commerce search is a more powerful hybrid of both and a bit of Google Custom search, which sits on Cloud Technology that you pay for ( it seems google has relised that its current revunue model for ads has limits and is moving to other revunue seeking areas hence all the new apps they are creating. I am actuallly thinking of writing an article for the blog on this topic of Google Commerce V Froogle as I have been asked it a few times now. While Google Commerce search is a good thing on one level there are a few down sides that i think i might address in the article too. Great question :-)
